About Donna Moschella
Donna Moschella is the owner of Nest on Main
A resident of Northport since 2012, Donna and her family are thrilled to be part of the Northport community. After moving from Dix Hills, NY, Donna enjoyed volunteering her time with the Northport Historical Society. As a Board Trustee from 2014-2018, she chaired the events, fundraising and hospitality committees.
Donna’s creative interests and talents have deep roots. After earning her BS in Business Management from St. John’s University, Donna went on to become a fashion buyer for R.H. Macy & Co. Corporate Division in NYC. There she worked with designers and manufacturers, coordinating private label import lines for the retailer. During her time at Macy’s, she was afforded the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Asia. She then held the position of Director of Marketing for the Liz & Co. division of Liz Claiborne Inc., acting as liaison between sales and production. Donna left the company after her first child was born.
In 1995, with two small children, a new home and a tight budget, Donna’s desire to create a warm and inviting home led her to design and make her own window treatments, pillows and bedding. From this, and custom orders from friends and family, a new business, Something Old, Something New was born. Donna created a line of pillows and home accents, combining new with vintage fabrics and embellishments. This included a line of candles, using vintage glassware as a vessel for the wax.
Traveling on weekends to the many shows and fairs to promote and sell her creations became difficult with small children. In 1998, born out of a desire to work from home while raising two sons, Donna and a friend launched Custom Billing Services, a medical billing and practice management company. She retired from the business in 2016.
Volunteering has always been an important part of her life. She was an active member of the Commack School District’s PTA.
