Karen Dreher
Interior design services including, but not limited to, furniture selection and layouts, color consultations and staging. Karen Dreher and her daughter have been Northport residents for just over nineteen years. Karen is a two-time graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology where she mastered both the arts of Display/Exhibit Design and Interior Design. After graduation, she became the assistant to a very well- known designer on Madison Avenue in New York City. As a result, her career soared as she became responsible for boutique shops within major department stores, such as Bloomingdale’s and Saks. Desiring a more personal approach to design, Karen established Karlin Custom Designs, Ltd. over 30 years ago. Her priority is to create the “perfect space” and to capture each client’s individuality without breaking the bank. Her specialties include kitchen design, space planning, home staging and color coordination.
What inspired you to start your business?
My love of home and family. I am a true homebody. I enjoy working with people to create their "dream home." A successful design is beautiful, comfortable, functional and most importantly, unique to each individual client.
What makes your house a home?
First and foremost my daughter, Emily and our puppy. When we moved to the village 20 years ago, my goal was to create a home that is relaxing and inviting for all ages. We love to spend time with friends and family. Our door is always open!
Why did you choose to be part of the Nest? :)
Donna! I met Donna on Cow Harbor Day shortly before the Nest opened and we just "clicked." I am proud to be a part of such a unique concept and I hope to expand the interior design services that Nest has to offer.
